Why Bodygard - to save lives
The Coal Industry adopted the use of "safety window cab reinforcement systems" in the early 1990s Prior to the adoption of these safety measures approximately one death occurred per year on surge piles (19 deaths from 1980 to 2000). The fatalities occurred when a dozer would fall into a void buried in coal. The windows caved in, suffocating the operator. Since 2000 when the coal industry adopted these safety measures, there have been ZERO fatalities of this nature.
The importance of protecting cab operators with "safety window cab reinforcing systems" extends beyond the Coal Industry. In Nov. 2007 a dozer operator was working on a surge pile at a coal burning power plant when the dozer broke through the honey comb crust and was engulfed by the coal. The cab was not reinforced, the windows collapsed under the weight of the coal, and the operator was smothered. If a Bodygard system had been installed, the outcome would have been very different. The cab would have been reinforced providing protection until the operator could be pulled out. Click on the video and watch an example of how the Bodygard System works. The Power plant where this death occurred has now installed 4 Bodygard systems in their Dozers to help ensure this does not happen again at their plant.
Bodygard Safety Window Systems also protect operators of off-high equipment. A Bodygard System installed in a A D-9 Dozer was struck by a large rock that fell from a high wall. The only damage was a slight dent in the window. Without the Bodygard System, the falling rock could have resulted in a serious or fatal injury.
Installing a Bodygard Safety Window system in your equipment is a significant step for protecting your operators.
There is no optical distortion; there are no cab modifications required; Bodygard reduces the decibel levels and most importantly, protects your operator from dangerous objects that could come through a window or a collapse in the event of a burial.
